Carson tells AP: Seventh-day Adventism is right for him

Broomfield, Colo. He embraces it as right for him while also framing his beliefs in broad terms that aim to transcend divisions among Christians.

School district concedes to American Atheists

On Oct. 23 signs were placed in each school of Santa Rosa County that read, “Students are invited to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country, but they are not required to do so.” Santa Rosa County Director of Middle Schools David Gunter says the signs were in response to a complaint from a parent who alleged that her son was forced to stand during the pledge of allegiance even though he expressed his unwillingness to do so.  The school stood firm referring to F.S. 1003.44 and the Code of Student Conduct and referenced a section that states: “When the pledge is given, civilians must show full respect to the flag by standing at attention.”

Rains, drains and pains

In the past two weekends, Navarre has seen more than a foot of rain.  When the remnants of Hurricane Patricia swept through Oct. 25 – 26, nearly 7 inches of rain fell.  The rain totals of Halloween weekend were nearly that at 6.41 inches with some areas receiving 7 inches.  Rewind to Sept. 28 and in a flash flood event, Navarre received a staggering  7 inches in merely  six hours.  Total it all up and it equals almost 2 feet of water.  And under the water is muck.

Out and About

We have another issue that is full of newsy news. Everything from a plane landing on Navarre Beach and running over our already dead fish, the red tide fish kill, to a shooting, and a grand-theft auto. We would have more information if those that had it were a little more forthcoming. However, much of what we found out, we found out ourselves, and we were there.

Navarre High School wins Beach Bowl food drive battle

The Beach Bowl rivalry extends beyond the football fields and into the hallways of both Navarre and Gulf Breeze High Schools.  As tradition would have it, the football players compete on the fields and the students compete with a food collection drive that benefits Caring and Sharing of South Santa Rosa County.
