Temperatures are forecast to drop into the 70s this weekend just in time for a full slate of activities for Week 3 of the 12th Annual Beaches to Woodlands Tour of Santa Rosa County.
Hurlburt Field, Fla. — Hurlburt Field welcomed its newest honorary commanders Sept. 25 with an introduction to the base’s various missions and a banquet.
According to its definition a pirate attacks an enemy in the enemy’s territory. The Pink Pirates of Navarre were on the attack Saturday against cancer at the 2015 PINKtoberfest held in Navarre Park. The theme of this year’s event was “Make cancer walk the plank” and with the help of local vendors and community members, they did just that.
Joyfest 2015 is slated for Saturday Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Navarre Park and will feature worship teams and bands from seven local churches. “It’s like a Christian concert,” said event organizer Bobbie Harms. “It’s really a day that is dedicated to praise and worship to God, regardless of denomination.”
On a beautiful Sunday morning, several pets made their way to church with their owners to receive a special pet blessing at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Navarre. The Rev. Beth Hoffmann administered the blessing with a sprinkling of holy water.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, about half of home fire deaths are a result from fires reported between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., when most are sleeping. So this year’s theme for the 2015 National Fire Prevention Week is “Hear the beep where you sleep,” encouraging people to install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home.
