Moms get the fitness spotlight

In less than a year, Caslyn Duval has nearly quadrupled her fitness business. There are nicknames out there for Duval: “fitpreneur” or “mompreneur.” Whatever you call her, Duval has been successful with her business, Fit4Mom, which focuses on helping mothers get fit and healthy.

She always knew she was adopted.

As I walked away from interviewing the ladies in the adjacent story, a thought popped into my mind. I have two young girls so the lyrics to every song on the Frozen soundtrack are permanently embedded in my brain. At that moment, “kingdom of isolation” is what came to mind. I thought about what a sad truth it is that many mothers fall into a state where we become so consumed by motherhood that we end up in isolation. We end up going it alone. It isn’t usually intentional, but it certainly is true.

Walking on Sunshine

Florida’s Government-in-the-Sunshine Law gives the public the right of access to government meetings and public records. It ensures that government works out in the open for all to see – no backroom conversations between elected officials before a vote. However, as we recently found out, in Santa Rosa County those officials can send texts or even message through Facebook without anyone capturing it or knowing the difference.

Out and About

Next week is spring break for Santa Rosa County Schools so be careful out there with the additional number of children and families on the road. Thankfully the weather will be a lot warmer than it was this week.
