Eglin Air Force Base – Dressed in the bright whites, deep blues and dense blacks of their service uniforms, Airmen, Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers came together once again May 6 to honor and remember their fallen explosive ordnance disposal brethren during the annual memorial ceremony at the Kauffman EOD Training Complex here.

The name of former Florida Congressman for District 1 Jeff Miller is being bandied about for the position of Secretary of Veterans Affairs since David Shulkins left the post and White House physician Ronny Jackson withdrew his nomination.

Panhandle Butterfly House open for exploration

The Panhandle Butterfly House (PBH) welcomed its first visitors of the season Saturday in Navarre Park during its 21st season Grand Opening. Visitors were invited to view and learn about native butterfly species, purchase native butterfly friendly plants and get coaching from master gardeners.

Navarre artist starts show work in Fort Walton Beach

Navarre artist Christine Salome’s photography is getting attention locally. Salome won first place in the animal category of the Arts and Design Society (ADSO) 19th annual photography juried show in April. A selection of her work also hangs at the HH Arts Gallery in Fort Walton Beach. The show just opened May 4.
