Navarre’s girls basketball team is back in the regional tournament. The Raiders host Bartram Trail Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

A district runner-up, Navarre is the third seed for the Region 1-6A tournament and is back in the postseason for the first time since 2022.

The Gulf Breeze Zoo is celebrating the arrival of four African lion cubs, who will make their public debut on Valentine’s Day, offering guests a rare opportunity to see the next generation of one of Africa’s most iconic species.

The cubs, two males and two females, have spent the past several weeks behind the scenes acclimating to their new surroundings under the attentive care of the zoo’s animal care team. The males, Kovu and Loki, and females, Katrina and Zuri, are already displaying curious, energetic personalities.

Southern Raceway acquired by local racing family

When Southern Raceway in East Milton went up for sale, some in the local racing community feared the property would be sold to a developer and that days at the dirt track would be a thing of the past.

That was also the fear of the Joiner brothers, Jonathan, Joseph and Joshua. As Joshua puts it, the brothers were practically raised at the track.

The Raiders got off to a great start, beating North Bay Haven 20-3 in their opener on Monday in Panama City.

Aydelott cleared to move to lower-security facility

After a recent court ruling, William Brandon Aydelott will move to a less restrictive mental health treatment facility in Tallahassee.

This marks the second time in the past two years Aydelott has been moved to a step-down facility. Aydelott was first placed in Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee in 2016, three years after killing his mother, beloved teacher Sharon Aydelott on Christmas Eve 2013.
