Local pastor serving as McKinney-Vento tutor outside the pulpit

On Wednesday nights and Sundays, you’ll find Billory Baptist Church pastor Jeremy Gault leading Bible study, services, and community outreach efforts. Monday through Friday, however, you’ll find him working with students throughout Santa Rosa County as a tutor for the school district’s McKinney Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program, a role he has held since August.

Raider girls hoops team uses preseason as learning experience

A young and inexperienced Navarre Raider girls basketball team got its first look at live action on the court Tuesday during a preseason tournament in Pace.


The Raiders played four two-quarter games, including one against West Florida Tech, and head coach Abby Fogg talked about her team’s effort after that one.

Report: Navarre’s Steve, Ann Hering victims of double murder suicide

The names of those involved in the double murder suicide on Cypress Point Circle have been released. Steve, 75, and Ann Hering, 82, were found dead in their home Tuesday, Nov. 5, along with their son, James (Jay) Hering, 57.

According to the incident report released by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office, the three were located deceased inside the kitchen and dining room area.

Rain doesn’t hamper Veterans Day in Navarre

Despite the rain, a crowd of over 50 people gathered beneath a pavilion at Navarre Park Monday, Nov. 11, to pay tribute to veterans and honor the sacrifices they and their families make. Each Nov. 11, groups such as American Legion Post 382, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 11367, Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, and local Scouting America (Boy Scout) troops gather at Navarre Park to celebrate Veterans Day.
