Navarre hoops standout wraps up first season at Alfred State

Navarre’s Darius Cunningham Jr. has wrapped up his first season of college basketball at Alfred State.

Cunningham finished the year as the third-leading scorer on the team, putting up 8.8 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds per contest.

Eglin waterways restricted, says 96th Test Wing commander

The waters around Eglin’s main base and range area are now considered RESTRICTED.

The restricted area includes six specific waterways open for ID Card holders and guests with a visitor’s pass only. The posture change comes due to identified emerging air and waterborne threats against defense installations.

Vietnam vet has passion for model making, family history

Surrounded by pictures of friends, family and mementos of a lifetime, Milton “Mickey” Reade tinkers away with one of his latest model airplanes.

Reade, 78, estimates he has completed around 65 model airplanes and ships, many of which are displayed prominently throughout his Midway home. Much of his collection is in what Reade calls his “heritage room,” a small bedroom which has been transformed into a sort of office.

It was a beautiful day for a Mardi Gras Parade Feb. 22 on Navarre Beach. The sun was shining with temps in the 60s for the 39th annual Navarre Mardi Gras Parade last weekend. The theme this year was “Celebrating 100 Years of Navarre,” where floats took a trip down memory lane and reminisced on the last century of our beach town.

According to Santa Rosa County Economic Development, Santa Rosa County is the eighth fastest growing population in Florida with 203,752 current residents.

Of current residents, approximately 23.6% are between the ages of zero and 19. With rapid growth occurring in Santa Rosa the school district is forced to contend with ever evolving facility needs.

That much was evident in a District 1-3A win against Crestview Thursday night as the Raiders cashed in on two interceptions for touchdowns to fuel a 19-0 victory over the Bulldogs on a chilly evening at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.
