Out and About
Just like the landscape of Navarre is changing, so are we.
With the addition of two papers to our parent company, Sandpaper Publishing, Inc., we have had changes in our staffing. In addition to hiring and getting ready to staff the two new (to us) titles, Santa Rosa Press Gazette and the Crestview News Bulletin, we have had changes in roles in our company.
Florida Power and Lights out
As recently as a few months ago, we grumbled when Gulf Power wanted a rate increase that added $10 to our bills. Customers called them greedy and all about the profit.
For God’s Sake: we must set Christ-likeness on our horizon and steer course for it
One of the lingering symptoms of my recent bout with COVID is a beard.
For the week-and-a-half that I was stricken, I set up residence on our living room sofa and topping my “not-to-do list” was shaving.

Five years ago, the Sweet 16 was the furthest thing from the collective mind of Navarre’s girls basketball team.
The Raiders were just praying to avoid 16 losses in Abby Fogg’s first season as the head coach.
For the record, they didn’t. They lost 19 games.
For God’s Sake: God be the glory for this glorious display of his all-sufficient grace
My first achievement for the new year was to get COVID. It first made its presence known with a scratchy throat on Tuesday of that first week.
The next morning, it unpacked its bags for a lengthy stay gifting me with what felt like a deluxe cold, the premium version with all the accessories: cough, congestion, headache, fever. I assumed it was only a bad cold.
County going somewhere bad in a handbasket
I see where in the Navarre Press of 1/20-26/2022 the Santa Rosa County “Zoning Board” is doing what the (Censored) in the “South Santa Rosa (Navarre) County want to do.
In effect they are “Killing the Goose that Laid the Golden Egg.”
Aging is a travel adventure
When I was younger, I couldn’t believe that I would reach an age where I would be walking in my mom’s orthopedic shoes. I don’t mean literally.
I mean that you can’t understand being old(er) until you get there.
Republican vs Democrat
The current divide in American politics is clear to anyone who pays attention to the prevailing political narratives that change as frequently as the tides.
Out and About
This weekend is the Mardi Gras parade.
If you plan on going, please get over to the island early. Parade veterans start setting up chairs sometimes as early as the night before, but definitely are there by 9 a.m. with their morning coffee.

I made it to the gym at Gulf Breeze shortly before 9 p.m. on a Friday night, barely an hour removed from watching Navarre’s girls basketball team hold off Pace in a thrilling district championship game in girls basketball.
And now it was time for some boys basketball, the final game for me of a busy week of covering sports.
