Sheriff’s office: Gulf Breeze man had over a dozen files of child porn

A Gulf Breeze resident has been arrested for possessing three videos and 10 images of child pornography.

Jason Ball, 48, is charged with possession of obscene material, which is a felony. According to his arrest report, the offense occurred at the 5300 block of Boots Byers Court in Gulf Breeze, which is Ball’s residence.

Eddington defends meetings with business owners

Santa Rosa County Commissioner Ray Eddington angrily denied any wrongdoing when meeting with local business owners. “I’ve got some people saying I’m doing backdoor deals; I’m not doing backdoor deals,” Eddington said at the Board of County Commissioners’ regular meeting Thursday, Oct. 12. The first-term commissioner said he’s meeting with area business owners to ask for their help making improvements in District 4, which includes Holley, Navarre and Navarre Beach.

Navarre Rotary to host Pancake Breakfast Oct. 21

The Rotary Club of Navarre will host their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 21, at Samurai Japanese Steakhouse in Navarre. The breakfast, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., will raise money for Navarre Youth Programs, which include Navarre Rotary’s Navarre High School Scholarship Program that awarded eight $1,000 scholarships in May 2022 and over $125,000 in scholarships since 1995.

Jay Walls won his 100th game as the head coach of the Navarre Raider football team Friday night.
He got that milestone victory in impressive fashion as the Raiders rolled past District 1-4S foe Milton 51-14 at Hurley Manning Field.

Veterans Alliance to host golf tournament

On November 10, Emerald Coast Veterans Alliance will host charity golf tournaments at Stone Brook Golf Club, Scenic Hills Golf Club and Lost Key Golf Club. The top three teams at each tournament will then compete in the finals at Stone Brook Golf Club on Veterans Day, November 11. 

November’s fifth annual golf tournament is a big deal, and ECVA president Bucky Howle boasts that “the last three years, we’ve been sold out six weeks prior to the event.” People from all over the panhandle come to support and honor the men and women who have given so much to protect our country.

Eddington talks transportation with citizens group

Commissioner Ray Eddington, who represents Navarre, spoke at a citizen’s roundtable meeting held Saturday, Sept. 23, at Navarre Library. During the meeting, the commissioner gave updates on several transportation and infrastructure projects in the south end of Santa Rosa County.

Eddington spoke of the possibility of having a connector road to Hurlburt Field that could alleviate traffic congestion on Highway 98, especially in the mornings and afternoons.
