Haas Center to earn University Center designation by US Economic Development Administration

University of West Florida’s Haas Center has been recognized by the US Economic Development Administration with a University Center designation.

According to UWF, the center aims to bolster Florida veteran and minority entrepreneurs by building wealth in sustainable businesses in the financial, professional, scientific services, manufacturing and transportation sectors. The project is one of only two such EDA University Centers in the state, the other being Florida A&M University. There are over 70 EDA University Centers around the country.

For many years, if you were a student who wanted to take a certain class that wasn’t offered at your school, then you were simply out of luck. But with broadcast classrooms, Santa Rosa County District Schools has given students that chance.

University of West Florida receives major gift

The University of West Florida announced a $2.5 million gift from the Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz law firm to name the UWF Center for Leadership and enhance its initiatives.

According to a UWF press release, the gift will support the Center for Leadership’s mission to develop effective leaders with a sense of personal authenticity and character, social and civic awareness and the ethical courage required to make positive change in the modern world.
