Retired art teacher recalls time at Navarre High, other schools

If you went to Navarre High School at any point in time, then you are likely familiar with Julia Stapleton. She spent the past 39 years teaching around 8,000 students. Stapleton, who is originally from Illinois, moved to Florida in 1982 and began teaching in 1983.

Stapleton spent the last 26 years at Navarre High, mostly as an art teacher and later as a department chair. She was the third person hired at the school when it first opened back in 1996.

FSU, UF weigh in on bar accident case

News Service Florida Tallahassee – Florida State University and the University of Florida plan to file arguments at the state Supreme Court in support of a woman who suffered catastrophic injuries when she was hit by a pickup truck in an incident that involved underage drinking.

Attorneys for the universities submitted a notice Tuesday that is a first step toward filing a brief supporting Jacquelyn Faircloth, who was 18 when she was hit by the truck in 2014 while crossing a Tallahassee street. Faircloth had been drinking, as had the 20-year-old driver of the truck, who had been at Potbelly’s, a bar near the Florida State campus.

School district names Navarre’s Windfelder principal of year

Navarre High School Principal Kasie Windfelder was named the Santa Rosa County District Schools’ High School Principal of the Year for 2022-2023 at a meeting of school administrators on July 26.

Navarre High School responded to the recognition on their Facebook page, “this honor is well-deserved, and we are endlessly thankful for how she tirelessly serves our school community every day.”
