Here’s your answer: When you visit Navarre Beach, you’ll see signs warning you against walking on the dunes – the sandy hills formed by wind.

If you happened to be on Navarre Beach on July 16, you may have noticed a group of small, tan lifeguards pulling a CPR dummy out of the water.

The dummy’s name is Brady, after football star Tom Brady, and the small lifeguards are the Navarre Beach Junior lifeguards, doing their final test after an intense two-week program where they learned everything from CPR to surfing to oceanography.

This beautiful bloom that you may spot near the beach is a blanket flower, more formally known as the Gaillardia pulchella.

Butterflies and bees love them, and their root system is well-adapted to sandy soils.

The Gulfarium’s C.A.R.E. Center successfully released nine rehabilitated sea turtles Tuesday morning at Inlet Beach, Florida.

Four candidates passed the initial criteria to enter training to become Navarre Beach lifeguards. The tryout was held Saturday morning. Candidates had to do a 1-mile timed beach run and a 400-meter open water swim. A week of training now begins.

Navarre Beach Fire Rescue wants to build their team of beach superheroes, otherwise known as lifeguards. Tryouts will be held 8 a.m Saturday, July 10 at Navarre Beach Marine Park at access 40D. Applicants will be asked to swim 400 meters of open water and run 1 mile on the beach in less than 18 minutes, followed by a Surf Rescue Lifeguard Academy July 12-17.

Crowds filled Navarre Beach to watch July 4th fireworks Sunday evening and enjoy Johnny Earthquake & the Moondogs perform before the fireworks show.

An 11-year-old boy who was pulled out by a rip current Wednesday evening is safe thanks to a young surfer.

“The boy was out near the end of the Navarre Pier by the time the surfer reached him,” said Navarre Beach Fire Rescue Chief Danny Fureigh. “He definitely was in pretty bad shape, swallowed a bunch of water, vomited it all back up in our truck.”

Aaron Clay’s Saturday morning began with a flipped kayak in the rough surf of the Gulf of Mexico.

The Gulfarium’s C.A.R.E. Center successfully released six rehabilitated sea turtles on Thursday morning at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, according to a Gulfarium press release.
