Run for the Reef results
Runners and walkers traveled from near and far to Gulf Boulevard on Navarre Beach Oct. 9 for the 13th annual Run for the Reef. The race was comprised of a 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Kids Fun Run.
There were 389 participants Saturday morning, the most in the event’s history, including 86 from out of state and another 85 from outside Santa Rosa County. All proceeds went towards the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary to help fund snorkeling and diving on the reefs.

Locals and tourists search for mystery ‘Mermaid Mailbox’ in the Sound
It’s not every day that you see a mailbox surrounded by water. Maybe in an overwater bungalow in the Maldives, but not typically in the Santa Rosa Sound between Navarre and Fort Walton Beach.
People have been posting on social media since July about this mystery mailbox that some are referring to as the “Mermaid Mailbox” or the “Mailbox Beach.” Locals and tourists alike are checking out this community mailbox, which is only accessible by boat, to see what treasures are inside.

This year 90 registered vessels competed – 75 registered catamarans and another 15 sailboats.
