On Friday the 13th, Mavis Ray Fehr struggled with the probability of getting the worst news of her life – for the third time.
A two-time survivor of a particularly dangerous form of breast cancer, the 49-year-old Navarre woman had recently found a new lump. A PET scan had identified it as likely cancerous.

Waste Pro’s monopoly of Santa Rosa County trash collection ended before it could begin as county commissioners Nov. 24 unanimously approved another hauler’s permit appeal.
Waste Pro was set to take over as the only collector in Santa Rosa County Jan. 1 thanks to a contract with the county, but with the approval, Adams Sanitation will be scooping up about 3,000 of their roughly 26,000 would-be customers.

To gather photos and ideas, we went right to the source of all things to do with local shell collecting – the Shell Friends of Navarre and Pensacola Facebook page – to find some shellers with a creative flare. Dozens shared photos with us to give you ideas for what to do with those shell collections. You can make everything from Christmas tree ornaments to Christmas trees out of shells, and everything in between.

Tommy Leggett was all but ignored by recruiters coming out of Navarre High. But that never stopped the former Raider football standout from believing in himself.
