Wind chimes ring as Ray and Bobbie Tolbert sit inside their screened in porch on a warm September afternoon. They have a view of the water from their home in Holley and just a few feet away is a large tree in the backyard. It’s where the couple was married nearly 70 years ago.

If you like Beer and Germany – you are going to like Oct. 6 in Navarre. The festivities start at Juana’s/Sailors Grill on Navarre Beach with their sixth annual Oktoberfest. There will be beer tastings from beer distributors at different stations with music on the deck from noon until 4 p.m. Admission and a commemorative souvenir glass (while supplies last) is $25. From 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. you can also witness anglers from the Navarre Fishing Rodeo bringing in their catch to be weighed. All of this is a lot of fun. Then – you may want to call an Uber and make your way up Highway 87 to Ye Olde Brothers Brewery.

From an “alien landscape” to Western spirits, the works of local artists were honored Aug. 30 as part of the Okaloosa Public Arts annual Artists Choice Exhibition.
