Letters to the Editor, Opinion

Thank you Navarre

| Staff Reporters
Fifteen years ago, my husband and I were lucky enough that the Air Force decided to send us to Hurlburt Field.  After looking around the area, we decided to make Navarre our home.  It was one of the best decisions we have ever made.

Over the years, I have served Navarre as a military family, a teacher, a parent and a volunteer for Caring & Sharing of South Santa Rosa County.  I have always known how kind and generous our community is, but in the last few years, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of giving.

My son, John, has severe, nonverbal autism, and he is one of the reasons that Emerald Coast Exceptional Families was formed. Myself, and like-minded friends, realized the need for a special needs community here in our small town.  What we didn’t realize was how much support we would receive from those around us.  In the last month, both our “Bags, Bubbles & Bling” fundraiser and our “Special Needs Trunk-or-Treat” were huge successes thanks to the generosity of our community.

So, I would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank you, Navarre.” We are grateful and humbled by your hearts, and appreciate it more than you can ever know.

Sincerely,

Kendra Booth

President, Emerald Coast Exceptional Families
