Since you asked: Why is that old white bike on display along U.S. Highway 98

| Wendy Victora Rudman

Here’s your answer:

That white bicycle was placed there to honor Elizabeth Allmon, known to many in Navarre as the “Bike Lady.” Allmon was killed June 9, 2009 when a car drifted across the white line dividing the roadway from the shoulder and struck her while she was bicycling along the busy highway. The bicycle was donated by the Emerald Coast Cyclist’s Club. Allmon, who lacked a permanent address, was a familiar sight in Navarre.

This bike has been visible to U.S. Highway 98 motorists for more than a decade.
