Historic preservation advocates fight FDOT plans

A sea turtle education, research and rehabilitation center in Juno Beach, Fla., has launched an initiative designed to improve the chances of survival for sea turtles that are accidentally caught or injured near fishing piers. And, after two workshops in Santa Rosa and Bay counties over the weekend, eight additional piers are joining the initiative.

FWC continues bear management efforts

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) held the last of six public meetings Tuesday to discuss bear management in the eastern portion of the panhandle. The final meeting was held in Port St. Joe for the area designated as the East Panhandle Bear Management Unit (BMU), which focuses on the Apalachicola National Forest and surrounding areas.
