No heat for the cold in Navarre

In our daily lives, we have much to be grateful for, too many things to list.  So many things in fact, we rarely say we are thankful for the basics of life and move on to being grateful for the “extras” we enjoy.  There are those amongst us who would just be grateful for the basics: a roof over their heads, clothes, food and lately, heat. 

Fight leads to arson arrest

A fight between two men at the Navarre Park restrooms on Saturday morning Jan. 23 led to one of them being arrested for an arson that had just occurred.

Hall receives Legend’s Award at banquet

On Jan. 15, the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual Awards and Installation Banquet at the Soundside at Hurlburt Field to honor outstanding members and install a new board of directors.  The new Chamber President and CEO, Judy Morehead was the evening’s emcee.

The legacy of “The Turtle Lady”

Gigi Naggatz was affectionately known as “The Turtle Lady” on Navarre Beach and she was a leading volunteer and conservationist who worked tirelessly for the sea turtles.  She passed away Jan. 5 after a years-long battle with cancer.  While she will be greatly missed by many, her spirit will live on through the many volunteers that carry on her mission on Navarre Beach. 

Board election for water system nears

In the midst of the controversy swirling around Holley-Navarre Water System, an annual meeting and election of board of directors is scheduled for Jan. 19.  Four seats are open on the board; three from expiring terms and one from the resignation of Will Goulet.  The meeting will commence at 7 a.m. at the Board of Directors meeting room at HNWS with the announcement of the final slate of candidates running for election.  It will then recess for voting to commence until 7 p.m. when the meeting will be called back to session to discuss business, present the annual report and deliver the results of the election.

An unfamiliar truck passes slowly by your house, looking around your yard and house as he drives by.  A solicitor comes to your house and attempts to talk their way into your home.  A distraught person rings your doorbell in the middle of the night asking to use your phone.  A burglar breaks in and is surprised to find someone home, and that homeowner is assaulted. All of these scenarios have happened in Navarre during the past several months.
