County, Holley Navarre Water System respond to last week’s East Bay road collapse

A contractor with Holley Navarre Water System is currently installing a pipeline to take treated wastewater produced by HNWS and Navarre Beach Utilities and send it to Eglin property for disposal. The pipeline runs through Holley and Navarre, connecting under East Bay at Jewell Road.

On Tuesday, March 25, the project hit a snag when a portion of East Bay Boulevard collapsed near Jewell Road, leading to the roadway’s closure and a mad scramble to fix the issue.

Wawa development near Edgewood submits updated plans to county

When a convenience store development was first announced for the south side of Highway 98 near Edgewood Drive, developers were mum on the brand of the proposed store.

Santa Rosa Tourism Council approves budget, looks at marketing results

Santa Rosa County Tourism Development Council convened March 20 to discuss and approve a preliminary budget for FY 2025-26, which runs from Oct. 1, 2025, to Sept. 30, 2026.

The total overall budget for the TDC, which funds Tourism Development Office (TDO) operations, brand marketing for Santa Rosa County and grants for a variety of events throughout the county, is $3,633,563.

Former Santa Rosa District Schools employee charged with larceny

After resigning from Santa Rosa District Schools last October, Kelly Short, 57, was arrested on larceny charges related to her time as director of the district’s Office of Professional Learning.

Short is accused of engaging in financial improprieties, which amounted to her allegedly stealing from the district over a two-year period. The arrest comes amidst a monthslong investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
