Bid approved for $103 million for south end high school

A new south end high school is one step closer to becoming a reality after Santa Rosa County District Schools held a school board meeting Oct. 12.

The board approved a $102,792,900 bid from the Morette Company to build the south end high school, which will be named later. The school is expected to be complete by the start of school in 2026.

Preserve Navarre incorporation effort at ‘halftime’

Preserve Navarre has reached “halftime” of its fight to incorporate southeastern Santa Rosa County, according to its president, Wes Siler.

“Think of it like football,” Siler said at a meeting Monday, Oct. 23, at Best Western. “At halftime, you review tactics, make adjustments, and try to come out with new energy and better effort. That’s what we’ve got to do now.”

Time for another chapter of Beach Bowl rivalry

Another edition of the Beach Bowl will play out this Friday as Navarre and Gulf Breeze square off in pursuit of the coveted rivalry trophy.

Navarre mother arrested for September bus incident

A Navarre woman was arrested after she allegedly refused to leave a Santa Rosa County District Schools bus Sept. 21.

Dana Stuart was charged with trespassing and disturbing the peace. She was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail Sept. 29 and released later that day.

Budget workshop could help frame revenue debate

Eddington defends meetings with business owners

Santa Rosa County Commissioner Ray Eddington angrily denied any wrongdoing when meeting with local business owners.
“I’ve got some people saying I’m doing backdoor deals; I’m not doing backdoor deals,” Eddington said at the Board of County Commissioners’ regular meeting Thursday, Oct. 12. The first-term commissioner said he’s meeting with area business owners to ask for their help making improvements in District 4, which includes Holley, Navarre and Navarre Beach.
