Data collected from more than 200 public records, according to The New York Times, shows that dozens of schools have made the program mandatory.

Karen Cody of Navarre High named county teacher of year

Karen Cody, a math teacher at Navarre High School, was named Santa Rosa County teacher of the year Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Santa Rosa District Schools Superintendent Dr. Karen Barber, school board members and Santa Rosa Education Foundation members delivered the news to Cody’s classroom.

County approves Navarre Community Access Road PD&E study

The Santa Rosa County Commission approved spending up to $600,000 for a Navarre Community Access Road project development and environment study last week with no fanfare.

Commissioners didn’t discuss the item at their Jan. 9 committee meeting, forwarding it to the Jan. 12 regular meeting’s consent agenda without objection. The expenditure passed as part of the consent agenda at the regular meeting.
