Students ‘Turn the Tides’ at summer camp

Not many summer camps include squid, ice cream and kayaking at the beach all in one week. But those are just a few of the activities young campers were able to enjoy during the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station’s Turning the Tides summer camp June 9 – 13.

Season ends at Region III President’s Cup

The FC Dallas Emerald Coast U-14 soccer team represented the state of Florida in the U.S. Youth Soccer Association Region III President’s Cup last weekend in Decatur, Alabama. The team scored a win against the host state’s team but dropped games against Arkansas and North Texas. The team’s single win did not earn it enough points to advance to the finals.

Beach dog parks stay

After more than an hour of comments from Pensacola Beach residents and visitors, as well as discussion from board members, the Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) Board took no action to modify the operation or location of the beach’s west end dog park.

Turtles there, but not here

Each morning at about 5:30, volunteers head out on Navarre Beach to search for sea turtle nests, but so far this year, no action. The turtle patrol started their early morning trips May 1.
