The courthouse roller coaster ongoing

Most agree that Santa Rosa County needs a new courthouse. What can’t be agreed on is how big, how much, funding sources, or where to put it. The City of Milton wants it to stay in downtown Milton. Milton’s City Manager Brian Watkins made a presentation to the commissioner showing the “status of action” on the downtown properties previously identified as needed for a courthouse in the proximity of the existing courthouse. Out of eight parcels, two had been purchased by the City of Milton and four were in some form of negotiations and two properties had “no action.”

Pink Pirates raise the sword against cancer

According to its definition a pirate attacks an enemy in the enemy’s territory.  The Pink Pirates of Navarre were on the attack Saturday against cancer at the 2015 PINKtoberfest held in Navarre Park.  The theme of this year’s event was “Make cancer walk the plank” and with the help of local vendors and community members, they did just that.

Blessed day for pets at St. Augustine Church

On a beautiful Sunday morning, several pets made their way to church with their owners to receive a special pet blessing at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Navarre.  The Rev. Beth Hoffmann administered the blessing with a sprinkling of holy water.

2 Tom Thumb employees arrested

Two employees of Tom Thumb Stores were arrested Thursday afternoon Oct. 8 as suspects in an employee-related theft over the last several weeks while employees at the store.
