Around five years ago, Angela Zangerle, a Navarre resident, was taking a tour of Santa Rosa Kids House, a nonprofit which provides services such as counseling, as well as shelter, for children who’ve been abused. The nonprofit has helped thousands of children, according to its website.

Just minutes into a preseason game against Pine Forest at Booker T. Washington last Tuesday night, it’s evident the Raiders are not going away without a fight.

They defend hard and are quick to force turnovers. And while it doesn’t add up to a victory against one of the more athletic and talented teams in the area, head coach Abby Fogg came away from the game feeling good about the effort her team put forth.

Kaleb Nobles held his baby in his lap as he sat down for a postgame press conference after a big win for the University of West Florida in the regular season finale against Chowan.

Nobles spent the inaugural year here for the Argos in 2016 as the quarterback and spent time on the coaching staff as well, including when UWF won the NCAA Division II national championship in 2019.

The Navarre standout opened the season in impressive fashion, recording a hat trick, and has tallied four goals overall through the first three games of the year.

School board candidate goes to Sheriff’s Office with book complaint

A school board candidate in Santa Rosa County has been caught up in controversy following a visit to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 25. Jennifer Tapley, a candidate for Santa Rosa school board district 2, along with Tom Gurski, went to the Sheriff’s Office with a complaint about Jay High school’s librarian after a student checked out a book Tapley considered to be “pornographic.”

Scooter’s Fish House welcomes John Poates as new owner
