Lionfish a featured topic at Northwest Florida Extension conference

On Feb. 8, ecologists and extension workers across Florida gathered on Okaloosa Island for the Northwest Florida Lionfish Workshop.

The goal of the workshop was to give the latest updates on the science around red lionfish, an invasive and venomous fish species native to the Indo-Pacific. They have been in Florida waters since the 1980s.

Seneca’s Deli is opening its doors sometime later this spring in the shopping center near Garcon Point Bridge exit onto Highway 98. The restaurant, which will serve freshly made Italian and deli food, is located in the former Shane’s Rib Shack.

Community braves rain for 19th annual Woodstoke Festival

The Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society (GCKWC) celebrated the 19th annual Woodstoke Festival at Holley Hill Pottery this Saturday, Feb. 10. Despite the rainy weather, people came out to celebrate all things pottery and take a gander at local, regional and national potters’ newest creations.
