Another great year in sports is history.

Among the highlights, Navarre’s girls weightlifting team added another state title to its trophy case and the girls basketball and girls soccer teams won district titles. The Raider football team also claimed a district crown.

Water System directors told to ‘do your job!’

In the absence of Holley Navarre Water System board president and interim CEO Joe Campbell, directors Daryl Lynchard and James Dabney attempted to remove Campbell from his unpaid CEO position.

However, director Bill Thiel, who joined the meeting by video conference, had another plan. When confronted with a motion to remove Campbell as interim CEO as part of an ongoing legal issue, Thiel warned the board that without him there is no quorum, and he would disconnect from the meeting if they went forward with the motion.

Last Christmas, Navarre had a high of 76 and a low of 59 on Christmas Day. The forecast for this Christmas is a high of 42 and a low of 28.

So, what’s the deal? Why is it so cold this year?

New details released in Friday’s fatal shooting

A Gulf Breeze man has been arrested on a first-degree homicide charge following the fatal shooting of a Navarre man on Friday.

Robert Steven Schuster, 37, of Reservation Road in Gulf Breeze, was arrested on Friday at the entrance to Holley by the Sea, according to Jillian Durkin, public information officer for the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Fuel dumps thousands of gallons, property damaged

Those in traffic along U.S. Highway 98 in Navarre on Thursday, Dec. 8, may have noticed lights, sirens, and the strong smell of gasoline.

At approximately 9:08 a.m. that morning, Holley Navarre Fire Department received a call of a fuel spill at the marina near Navarre Park and Mango Mary’s.

Schism: Local churches leave United Methodist Church

Across the nation, Methodist churches are having tough conversations. These conversations surround the church’s stance on homosexuality, as well as how the rules of the church are followed.

Many of these conversations have led to disaffiliations with the United Methodist Church, which acts as the governing body of over 30,000 congregations.
