New vacation cottages expected to open this spring

If you have driven on Granada or Carlos streets in Navarre at any point in the past month, you may have noticed work being done on the lot across from the Childcare Network. There are approximately nine new cottages going in as part of a rental project called Sum Beach Rentals.

Before these cottages, which are not finished, the lot was home to a trailer park that had become dilapidated. The project to create Sum Beach Rentals began when Jeff Perrett, an entrepreneur and developer, bought the property July 15, 2022.

Eddington has much to learn

To our surprise, last week we had the opportunity to sit down and speak with District 4 Commissioner Ray Eddington.

It took some wrangling, but the meeting took place. As all of you know, we had a lot to ask.

Out and About

We cannot report the outcome in this issue since our files go to the printer before the election is over, we will be reporting on it immediately online and next week in print. Don’t forget, we are daily online and weekly in print.

Another great year in sports is history.

Among the highlights, Navarre’s girls weightlifting team added another state title to its trophy case and the girls basketball and girls soccer teams won district titles. The Raider football team also claimed a district crown.

Water System directors told to ‘do your job!’

In the absence of Holley Navarre Water System board president and interim CEO Joe Campbell, directors Daryl Lynchard and James Dabney attempted to remove Campbell from his unpaid CEO position.

However, director Bill Thiel, who joined the meeting by video conference, had another plan. When confronted with a motion to remove Campbell as interim CEO as part of an ongoing legal issue, Thiel warned the board that without him there is no quorum, and he would disconnect from the meeting if they went forward with the motion.
