Help keep Navarre Beach turtle friendly

A few years ago, sea turtle enthusiasts convinced the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners to approve an ordinance that was designed to keep Navarre Beach sea turtle friendly. The ordinance, commonly called “leave no trace,” prohibits items from being left on the beach overnight, unless they have been properly permitted by the county. Despite the best efforts made by various conservation groups to spread the word about sea turtle nesting and the ordinance, more education is needed.

NFL players, coaches in Navarre

About 130 high school and middle school football players and their parents spent last weekend in Navarre, so the youth athletes could hone their skills learning from Super Bowl and All-Pro NFL players and coaches. Keith Brahms organized the local camp for Football University, a company that holds the player training events across the country.

Navarre group changing lives near, far

A Navarre-based Christian missions organization, Shield of Faith Missions, is working to transform lives and change communities from the local area to remote locations around the world. Twenty volunteers recently concluded a nine-day mission trip where they were able to share God’s love through service to more than 2,000 people in Peru.

Navarre principals honored with annual awards

Grand theft at West Navarre Primary

It hasn’t been a good final year for West Navarre Primary School Principal Sandi Eubanks, who is set to retire in November. At the end of April during the historic rain event, her school received the worst flooding damage of any Santa Rosa school. During cleanup efforts, her school was hit by grand theft with the loss estimated at more than $10,000 but less than $20,000.
