Navarre Chamber presents monthly awards

The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce held its monthly Commerce and Coffee Aug. 28 Raider style.  The meeting served as a hometown pep rally for the Navarre High School football team as they prepared for their home opener against Pensacola’s Catholic High School.  Head Coach Jay Walls and Dr. Steve Jordan with the Andrews Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center were the featured speakers.

Crime falling as Navarre area grows

The quickening pace of population growth in Santa Rosa County is testing law enforcement’s capacity, but meanwhile most crime categories are actually on the decline of late, especially in the fast-growing Navarre area.

Clock’s ticking on Navarre Beach renourishment

When Santa Rosa County began discussing the next go-round of beach renourishment in January 2013, the estimated price was $12 million to $13 million. All necessary permits have been issued and the project now has an $18 million dollar price tag, which could increase to $19 million if the county doesn’t act soon, according to Michael Walther, a professional engineer with south Florida-based Coastal Tech, who attended Monday’s county commission meeting.

Bear captured in Navarre

A black bear roaming in a Holley By The Sea neighborhood was captured in a trap Monday afternoon and taken away by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
