East Bay Blvd. opening to thru traffic between Bergen Road and Edgewood Drive

East Bay Boulevard will be open by the end of the day (Tuesday, July 18) to thru traffic between Bergren Road and Edgewood Drive in Navarre but will remain an active construction zone.

According to assistant county engineer John Studstill, the open cut roadwork requiring the road closure is complete.

Back to school sales tax holiday starts July 24

Florida’s 2023-2024 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday is almost here! From Monday, July 24, to Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, consumers can purchase qualifying back-to-school supplies exempt from tax. A second sales tax exemption period will begin Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, and extend through Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024.

CERT among organizations out at Senior Center

The Navarre Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Emerald Coast Amateur Radio Association (ECARA) will no longer be meeting at the Holley Navarre Senior Center.

In fact, it appears that organizations not directly affiliated with the Senior Center will not be able to hold meetings or events there.

“Who is going to protect the swimmers?” asked a woman during the public forum portion of the Santa Rosa County board of commissioners meeting.

Fishermen showed up to speak against proposed measures to ban shark fishing west of the pier. The question of protecting swimmers was posed.

Navarre Conference Center now being leased to gym

Navarre Fitness Center has spent the last month getting ready to open, which it did Tuesday, July 11.
