Southern Raceway acquired by local racing family

When Southern Raceway in East Milton went up for sale, some in the local racing community feared the property would be sold to a developer and that days at the dirt track would be a thing of the past.

That was also the fear of the Joiner brothers, Jonathan, Joseph and Joshua. As Joshua puts it, the brothers were practically raised at the track.

Aydelott cleared to move to lower-security facility

After a recent court ruling, William Brandon Aydelott will move to a less restrictive mental health treatment facility in Tallahassee.

This marks the second time in the past two years Aydelott has been moved to a step-down facility. Aydelott was first placed in Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee in 2016, three years after killing his mother, beloved teacher Sharon Aydelott on Christmas Eve 2013.

County officials, community celebrates opening of Buffalo Rock facility in East Milton

Close to a hundred people gathered in East Milton’s I-10 industrial park Wednesday, Jan. 21, to celebrate the recent opening of Buffalo Rock’s 352,800 square-foot Santa Rosa campus.

The facility, which includes 312,800 square feet of distribution space and 40,000 square feet of office space, is designed to handle logistics and product shipping along the Gulf Coast region, including much of the Panhandle. Construction on the facility began in September 2023. It has been open for about a month.
