Tallahassee – A 2023 law that lowered the number of jurors needed to recommend execution has resulted in a “quintessential game of chance” for inmates being resentenced because of changes in the state’s death-penalty process and unconstitutionally “silences Black voices,” groups are arguing in what could be a pivotal Florida Supreme Court case.

Heroes on the Water

Every month, a group of veterans, Active Duty servicemembers and some first responders take to the water. Not on a mission but to kayak and fish. They are part of an organization known as Heroes on the Water; a nonprofit founded in 2007 to provide recreational wellness experiences to those who have served. 

Dolphin found on Eglin Property by Navarre residents

While venturing down Navarre Beach, as he does every morning, Doug Browne and a friend discovered a sight they wished they didn’t have to see.

On May 25, Browne and Olivia Hagedoorn found a deceased dolphin washed up along the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico. The dolphin was technically on Eglin Air Force Base property, but the friends managed to see it and contact someone with Gulf World Marine Institute.

Julia Irmen set for next chapter of volleyball career

Julia Irmen is coming back from a recent injury. It’s prevented her from playing volleyball this spring.


But her playing days aren’t over yet as the Navarre standout is headed to NCAA Division III Rose-Hulman in Indiana to continue her career.
