September marks Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Mention the month of October and the color pink to people and they will almost immediately think of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. What people might be less likely to recognize is that September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, which dedicates the month to raising awareness and educating women on ovarian cancer, the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death in women.

Strength in muscles, message

A dynamic group of strong men are coming to share a strong message of faith with families at Hurlburt Air Force Base’s Family Day on October 4.  The Strength Team travels the world each year, performing tremendous acts of strength in an effort capture the attention of audiences in hopes of inspiring others with an encouraging message.

GAINESVILLE — Edith Kaan, whose research into the way people respond to foreign languages normally keeps her busy in a lab in the maze of Turlington Hall’s basement, spent most of the past year traveling abroad courtesy of a sabbatical awarded by the University of Florida.

The Amazing Shake teaches lesson of first impressions

Local community leaders will help eighth graders at Woodlawn Beach Middle School become more confident and assertive conversationalists through a competition called the Amazing Shake. WBMS algebra teacher Jeffrey Baugus, local organizer of the program, said that his eighth grade students will get a chance to practice their soft business skills and become better conversationalists.
