Pull back the curtains and let the light shine in

At the south end Tourist Development Council meeting on Dec. 1, Commissioner Rob Williamson’s mantra that he repeated over and over was, “Just because a recommendation is made (by this council) doesn’t mean we (the Board of Commissioners) have to follow it.”  A couple of the council members were heard saying, “Then why do we meet?”  That is a fair question.  Why do they meet?  Do they have no value to the board of commissioners or the tourism director?  Is it just a check mark on a list for Commissioner Williamson and the director Julie Morgan?

The primary responsibility of our government is to keep the citizens free and safe. Does our current immigration policy accomplish this primary duty? I think not!  Do you have a moral responsibility to your neighbor or to a foreigner?  Unrestricted immigration is changing our nation in many unfavorable ways.

The area of South Santa Rosa County that we call Navarre currently considers the surveying and platting of Guy H. Wyman in 1925 as our beginnings. Navarre Press has further traced one of its earlier forms of existence to a settlement called Eagan.

Patrick Shea emigrated from Ireland when he was just 13 years old.  The year was 1851 when he made is way on shore in New York, courtesy of the ship Edw O Brien which departed from Liverpool, England.

Armed home invasion, suspect arrested

On Friday, Nov. 27 a call was made on a burglary in progress with shots fired on Sevilla Street.  Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call and dispatch advised them that the suspect was being detained by the homeowner.
