Elks Lodge strengthens community it serves

The way of the Elks Lodge in Navarre has historically been to give humbly and richly to the community it serves without being in the spotlight.  So much so that when asked about their programs, they shy away from highlighting their own contributions and focus on the need for the programs they sponsor.  But on Saturday, they opened the doors to the community in hopes of raising funds, saying a special thank you to active and retired military, and recruiting a few new members to volunteer with the lodge.

STEMmersion engages educators

Holley-Navarre Intermediate school teacher Lauren Goodin participated in interactive activities and workshops focused on teaching science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) July 14-17 during the 2016 Discovery Education Summer STEMmersion.

Trial date set in Aydelott murder case

The court declared William Brandon Aydelott, 20, competent to stand trial for the murder of his mother Wednesday, July 27, after the results of a second psychological evaluation were heard by Judge John Simmons Jr. The trial is set to begin in October.
