UWF Historic Trust unveils train pavilion portion of Museum of Industry

The University of West Florida Historic Trust recently received a $110,000 gift from the McMillan family and $400,000 from the late Barbara Goggins estate in efforts to enhance the train exhibition and improve the outdoor space around the Museum of Industry. The new train canopy area includes a locomotive and flat car formerly owned by the T.R. Miller Mill Company as well as an L&N caboose. The new space will be named the Barbara Goggins Train Pavilion in recognition of her support for the project.

Judge backs EPA in water quality dispute

Tallahassee – In a case that started after a dramatic increase in manatee deaths, a federal judge has rejected a lawsuit aimed at requiring the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to take another look at water-quality standards in the Indian River Lagoon.

Boardwalk planned for Navarre Beach, architectural firm to be hired

The Tourist Development Council (TDC), which is the county board responsible for directing the Tourist Development Office (TDO) and their plans, has released initial conceptual plans for a new visitor center and boardwalk along the Gulf side of Navarre Beach.

The boardwalk, which will be built in two phases, will feature eight retail shops and stretch from the Navarre Beach main parking lot (near Windjammers on the Pier) to the Dolphin Pavilion in the Navarre Beach Marine Park. The eight shops will be in four buildings.
