Amendment 4 group fights fine

Tallahassee – A political committee that led unsuccessful efforts to pass a constitutional amendment on abortion rights is fighting the state’s attempt to impose a $328,000 fine related to petitions gathered for the initiative.

Commissioner Kerry Smith named BOCC Chair

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners held their annual reorganization meeting in conjunction with the oath of office ceremony for districts 1, 3 and 5. During the meeting, the board selected new leadership. Commissioner Kerry Smith, District 2, was unanimously selected to serve as the board chairman.

Holley Navarre Primary’s Krista Galvan a leader in ‘social thinking’ role

Each year, students across Holley Navarre Primary School need help with regulating emotions, social interactions, and developing skills to be more successful in school. Luckily for them, they have Krista Galvan.

Recently named Holley Navarre Primary’s teacher of the year, Galvan serves as the school’s social thinking teacher, a position she has coveted for a long time.

Tragedy struck the Navarre community Tuesday, Nov. 5, when it was discovered that Steven and Ann Hering died as victims of an apparent double murder-suicide at their home in the Holley by the Sea neighborhood. James (Jay) Hering, one of the couple’s sons, also died. He is suspected of killing his parents and then himself.
