Holley Navarre Intermediate teacher named district teacher of year

A cacophony of celebration ignited inside Kayla Stanford’s fifth-grade classroom Tuesday, Feb. 4, as Santa Rosa District Schools Superintendent Dr. Karen Barber and others surprised Stanford with the announcement that she was District teacher of the year.

The announcement came as happy news to teacher and students alike, although for different reasons.

The Gulfarium welcomes rescued manatees to Emerald Coast

The Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is welcoming two new arrivals. The aquarium, located on Okaloosa Island, recently announced that two rescued manatees were brought to the newly renovated manatee habitat. Their names are Lil Joe and Inigo.

The manatees coming to Northwest Florida is the culmination of a three-year vision that began in 2022, when Patrick Berry, CEO of the Gulfarium, first spoke with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service about creating a haven dedicated to nurturing manatees in need of long-term care.

Three Navarre Raiders sign letters of intent

Three Navarre Raiders signed national letters of intent last Wednesday at a national signing day ceremony at the high school.


Two of the athletes are football players. Vinny Villanova is taking his talents to NCAA Division II University of West Florida. Jacari Thomas will play junior college football at Community Christian College in Detroit.
