Regional lifeguard development course being offered on Navarre Beach

The Emerald Coast Lifesaving Association will host the second edition of its Lifeguard Development Course on Navarre Beach on Feb. 16. The course will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is designed for second- and third-year lifeguards, with an emphasis on advanced skills, teamwork and leadership preparation. The program is not intended for current supervisors.

Raider baseball team ready to turn things around in 2026

Gabby Johnson stepped onto the podium twice during the District 1-3A girls weightlifting meet last Monday at Pace.


The senior finished third for Navarre in Olympic and traditional in the 199-lbs. weight class, helping the Raiders finish second overall as team. But her success only tells part of her story.

African-American faith leaders say Martin Luther King Jr’s work continues

Monday marked the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January each year.

King, a civil rights leader and pastor from Atlanta, spent much of his adult life campaigning for an end to Jim Crow laws in the American South and advocating for fair and equal treatment of minorities, particularly African Americans, in the United States.

Four people arrested for burglary in Milton

An alleged burglary Friday, Jan. 16, led to the arrest of four people in Milton.
The incident was reported after a neighbor noticed suspicious activity and alerted the homeowner. Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded, and the suspects attempted to flee before being apprehended.
