Public Notification

In compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Hurlburt Field announces the availability of a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for reconstruction of five existing Entry Control Facilities and Access Control Points (ECF/ACP) including the Main Gate, East Gate, Soundside Gate, Kerwood Gate, and the Commercial Vehicle Inspection (CVI) Gate for public review and comment. The EA analyzes these projects for facility and infrastructure construction and demolition at Hurlburt Field to provide access improvements necessary to support the continued mission of the 1st Special Operations Wing and other tenant units.

Your comments on this Draft EA are requested. Letters and other written comments may be published in the Final EA. As required by law, comments will be addressed in the Final EA and made available to the public. Any personal information provided, including private addresses, will be used only to respond to your desire to make a statement during the public comment period or to compile a mailing list to fulfill requests for copies of the Final EA. However, only the names and respective comments of respondent individuals will be disclosed; personal home addresses and phone numbers will not be published in the Final EA.

This is a posting of an updated Draft EA. The previous Draft EA on the same subject was posted on 11 July 2022. This updated version is now made available for additional public review and comment.

The Draft EA is available on the web at https://www.hurlburt.af.mil/Helpful-Info/Environmental/ from 3 October 2022 until 2 November 2022. The public library in Fort Walton Beach, located at 185 SE Miracle Strip Parkway, and the public library in Mary Esther, located at 100 Hollywood Boulevard, have computers available to the general public and librarians who can provide assistance in downloading the EA document. Comments must be received by close of business Monday, 7 November 2022.

NOTICE OF DEADLINE TO REGISTER

Supervisor of Elections, Tappie A. Villane, hereby gives Notice that the Santa Rosa County voter registration books will close on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, for registration to be eligible to vote in the General Election that will be held on November 8, 2022.

Regular business hours for the main office located at 6495 Caroline St, Milton are Monday through Friday from 8:00-4:30.

Regular business hours for the South Annex located at 5841 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze will be Monday through Friday from 8:00-4:30.

New registrations may be completed by visiting votesantarosa.gov and selecting Register to Vote. Mailed forms must be postmarked by October 11, 2022.

Both locations will extend office hours until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

AND INTENT TO CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE

The Santa Rosa County Zoning Board and Board of County Commissioners will conduct public hearings to consider a change of land use and/or rezoning of land areas depicted on the maps within this advertisement. The hearings are scheduled as follows:

Zoning Board (to consider and make a recommendation on the proposals):
Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.

The Zoning Board meeting and the Board of County Commissioners meeting will be held at the Santa Rosa County Administrative Center in the Board Meeting Room, 6495 Caroline Street, Milton, Florida. The proposed ordinance and map may be inspected by the public prior to the above scheduled meetings at the Santa Rosa County Planning Department, 6051 Old Bagdad Highway, Milton, Florida. The agenda and backup documentation will be available via the Meetings & Agendas Page of the County’s website at www.santarosa.fl.gov approximately 1 week prior to each scheduled meeting. Interested parties may appear at the meetings and be heard with respect to this proposed ordinance. All interested parties should take notice that if they decide to appeal any decision made by the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners with respect to any matter coming before said Board at said meeting, it is their individual responsibility to insure that a record of proceedings they are appealing exists and for such purpose they will need to insure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record shall include the testimony and the evidence upon which their appeal is to be based.
