Bang Bang Shrimp, a hit at Scooter’s Fish House
Scooter’s Fish House is open every day from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. serving some of the freshest seafood on the Emerald Coast.
“The shrimp and the fish are always fresh from the Gulf,” said Vernon Diedrich, one of the managing owners of Scooter’s.
Located on Highway 87 South in Navarre, Scooter’s is a must-try for tourists and locals alike. Customers will find a wide range of tasty menu items, including fresh mullet, snapper, grouper, mahi and flounder.
Triggerfish, amberjack and smoked tuna dip are also popular menu items at Scooter’s. The mullet comes straight out of East Bay or the Sound, according to Taylor.
Colossal and popcorn shrimp are also on the menu. Try it with Scooters’ brand-new Bang Bang sauce, made from scratch. The Bang Bang Shrimp and Bang Bang Chicken are to die for.
One of Diedrich’s favorites is the Signature Chicken Samwich, which has homemade coleslaw and homemade tartar sauce on the sandwich.
“I know it sounds strange, but when you try it, you’ll be surprised,” he said. “I think the coleslaw and tartar kind of balances it out. You have to try it at least one time.”
In the coming months, Scooter’s will be switching to an A La Carte menu, where every food item will be ordered individually.
“It’ll give customers more options and open the menu up a little more,” Diedrich said.
The Build-Your-Own menu will have options for one to three proteins and customers will chose grilled or fried. Then, they can decide if they want it served in a taco, dinner, combo, platter, Samwich, or kid’s portion. Sides can be ordered individually, as well as drinks and dessert.
Family-owned and operated, the business was started by Sam ‘Scooter’ Taylor, who opened the restaurant with his brother, Stewart, in June 2016. Scooter’s has continued to grow over the years and continues to serve the local community.
The two chalk boards located at the ordering window show the latest items on the menu, including the fish of the day.
Decorative picnic tables brighten the casual dining area and provide that right-at-home feeling. There is even seating on the back deck to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather while you eat your tasty meal.
Every customer will receive fast and friendly customer service from the moment they enter until they leave.
“There’s nothing better than a happy customer,” Diedrich said.
Their kid’s menu consists of options such as fried fish, fried shrimp or fried chicken. All kid’s meals come with a side of fries and a hush puppy.
There are plenty of delicious sides as well, including BBQ beans, fries and cheese grits. The two seasonal sides being served currently are collard greens, cooked with smoked turkey drumsticks, and fried cabbage, which is fried in bacon fat with bacon pieces and onions. Wedge salad is also an option.
If you want dessert, Scooter’s has that, too. Key lime pie, made in-house, is a staple on the menu.
Instead of increasing their menu prices, Scooters is starting a new cash incentive discount. If customers pay with cash, they pay their normal amount. If using a card, customers will pay a 4% surcharge. The restaurant also accepts all forms of payment including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and any mobile wallet or tap pay option.
In the fall of 2021, Scooter’s set up a self-order kiosk on their porch. People can skip the line and order there for ease. Customers can also call in their orders or order online at NavarreSeafood.com.
