Coaches honor Raiders’ academic success
A national coaches association recently announced that Navarre High School’s 2011-2012 girls soccer team earned a Team Academic Award for its overall performance in the classroom.

Raiders shake off rust, route South Walton, Tate
Navarre High School’s boys’ soccer team played two games last week and at first the Raiders were a little rusty after a two-week break from school. Coach Ken MacDonald substituted freely trying to get the Raiders familiar with playing together at game speed. Some players are coming off injuries and his goal, he explained, was to ease them back into play and avoid aggravating their injuries.

Improved Raiders lose again to Pine Forest
The quicker Eagles’ pesky defense and balanced attack led Pine Forest to a 52-27 district win against the host Navarre Raiders on Thursday, Jan. 3. Despite the lopsided loss, Raiders’ coach Greg Boozer said his team had improved since a 68-17 loss to the Eagles in Pine Forest.

‘Prime Time’ Deion Sanders to speak at banquet
Deion Sanders, a former Florida State University athlete and NFL Hall of Fame football player known as “Prime Time” for his flamboyant style on and off the field, will be the guest speaker at the Fort Walton Beach All Sports Association banquet Feb. 8 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center.

Media honor Raiders on all-area, all-state teams
When a team registers the best season in program history, post-season awards are to be expected. The Navarre High School Raiders football team, which finished 12-2 and won the school’s first region championship, hasn’t gone unnoticed by regional and statewide media.
