In a season that has been filled with its share of tough moments, Navarre’s boys basketball team wasn’t about to experience one more as it battled Gulf Breeze Friday night.

The double-digit lead the Raiders had built in the fourth quarter against the No. 23 team in the state in 6A had been trimmed to three points.

After winning a district championship last week, Navarre’s girls soccer team  is gearing up for the Region 1-6A tournament.

The best part for the Raiders is they’ll get to play the opening round at home.

More school history was made Friday night as Navarre’s girls basketball team repeated as District 1-6A champions.

The Raiders became the first team to win back to back district titles, defeating Pace 52-42, and now head to the regional tournament locked in on contending for a state title.

Decked out in a blue University of West Florida shirt, Devin Wright came out from behind the curtain with a smile on his face and took his place at a table on the Navarre cafeteria stage.

Soon, the Raider football standout was signing his name to his national letter of intent to continue his athletic career at UWF.

Navarre’s girls basketball team is headed back to the district championship game.

And this time, the Raiders are hoping to become the first team in program history to repeat as champs.

They smiled, jumped around, embraced and basked in the glory of being a district champion.

For the first time in two years, the Navarre Raiders are back on top of the district in girls soccer, winning the District 1-6A crown Tuesday night against Niceville.

They have become the faces of the Navarre girls basketball program, the duo of Rachel Leggett and Mickey Vollmer putting the Raiders on the map as one of Florida’s best teams.

Together on the varsity roster since their sophomore year, the connection between the two was instant and has only grown from there.

Navarre’s girls weightlifting team continued its postseason run with another regional championship Saturday at Flagler Palm Coast.

Three individual champions helped pave the way for the Raiders, who won their 15th consecutive regional crown.

Derek Percivalle saw the ball rolling on the court and dove for it as if he was recovering a fumble on the football field.

Percivalle, for the record, is also a Navarre football player, and he knew he had to do something to keep hope alive for securing a comeback win over Milton.

A physical and hard-fought District 1-6A quarterfinal ended with Navarre falling 3-1 to Washington.

From start to finish, players battled for possession, with someone often being knocked to the ground, but the Raiders were unable to pull out a win against the ninth-ranked Wildcats at Sherman Robinson Stadium.
