Why do they hate us?
Do you wonder why our society is being attacked from within?
Why does our federal government promote division, hate and society destruction?
For God’s Sake: Thankful for God’s all-sufficient grace
My first achievement for the new year was to get COVID. It first made its presence known with a scratchy throat on Tuesday of that first week.
The next morning, it unpacked its bags for a lengthy stay gifting me with what felt like a deluxe cold, the premium version with all the accessories: cough, congestion, headache, fever. I assumed it was only a bad cold.
If only raccoons would pick up after themselves.
Classic mystery novels usually open with a set of unexplained occurrences that pique the curiosity of the protagonist.
The clues frequently, but not always, lead to a malicious event that leaves only the disconnected evidence available for identifying the perpetrator.
Children need parks, and parks need children
When my children were small, we spent most of our free time taking them to parks. If you want to know about all the small hidden parks that were in the area 15 years ago and probably still are today, hit me up.
We even found the ones that offered little or no parking because they were intended mostly for kids in the homes around the park, whose parents could walk them over.

Community members frequently call newsrooms like ours and want us to write stories about their opinions.
They don’t phrase it that way, but the conversation starts with what they think about an issue in the community and ends with, “You should write a story about that.”

If there is one thing Michael Carter has never done, it’s that he has never forgotten where he came from.
He didn’t do it when he went off to the University of North Carolina and he hasn’t done it since going to the NFL.
Effective follow up is silver bullet to stopping Japanese dodder
This is a frequently used theme in horror movies and horticulture. An alien species is introduced into a pristine environment, either intentionally or by accident, and quickly escapes control to the detriment of the locals.
Unfortunately, when this scenario occurs in a setting with native plants or a home landscape, the recovery is both costly and destructive. In many cases the intruder must be beaten back repeatedly.
Thanks to Santa Rosa for helping save animals
There is a lot to celebrate as we finalized the comparison data for 2021. There’s a lot I will unpack for you here…
For the first eight years I collected data from our local shelter, the average number of adoptions in 12 months was about 550. In 2019, DOUBLE the adoptions happened. This past year….TRIPLE.
