Occasionally in life, we have watershed moments, some life-defining occurrence that suddenly sends our life or our perspective on life in a different direction. I have had several watershed moments in my life, and the Apostle Paul’s words in Philippians 1:21 reminded me of one of them.

We had the opportunity to speak with a few members of the Navarre Krewe of Jesters last week and I was glad we did. It was certainly a lesson for both of us. We, of course, know what time of year the Mardi Gras parade is, but we don’t necessarily know when all the events are.

Eight years have come and gone. My first set of stories for the paper during the first week of February in 2015 included a story on Michael Carter and the recruiting attention that was just beginning to heat up with offers from Florida, Florida Atlantic and Tennessee.

On Saturday we attended the Navarre Beach Leaseholders Association’s regular meeting. It is usually a packed room of leaseholders waiting to hear about the latest updates from beach officials, like the Navarre Beach Fire & Rescue Department, the board for the association, and usually our county commissioner.

Driving south over the Navarre Beach Causeway, something new is changing the skyline … for the better. Kevin Rudzki and his crew are building a huge stage/amphitheater behind Juana’s. This stage will serve as the new entertainment venue on the Emerald Coast … or further!
