Timing is everything
Like Jerry Clower, I say “Ain’t God Good?” Because God loves the world so much, He “engineered” the release of the movie “Son of God” Feb. 28, blessing many to become aware of Jesus Christ.

Let our people vote
The Citizens to Incorporate Navarre Political Action Committee is collecting signatures in an effort to convince Santa Rosa County Commissioners to place a nonbinding straw poll on the August primary election ballot. This is the second go-around for the group. The commissioners in 2012 rejected their request.

Out and About
We received an email from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and then they followed up with a phone call asking if we received it sounding indignant. They wanted to make sure that we received it and hoped that we would report on it. Apparently a Boy Scout troop based in Navarre was treated to some freshly roasted rabbit and PETA thought we should write about it. So for those of you faint of heart you may want to stop reading now and skip down to “in other news.”

A long term view
Sandi,
I completely agree that volcanos and solar storms have far more to do with Earth’s climate than do the activities of humans.

Out and About
The Navarre Krewe of Jesters Mardi Gras Parade is this Saturday. Make sure you are on the island before noon because it will be hard to get over the bridge after noon. In years past, they opened up both lanes of the bridge for cars to use to get off of the island, so be prepared for delays. This year’s parade is being touted as larger than ever and there are more than 25% more parade entries than last year. The forecast is currently calling for only a slight chance of rain – but to date – there hasn’t been any rain in the history of this parade.

I bet you think the earth is still flat
Publisher Sandy Kemp made a remark in her column on Feb. 6, regarding the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, and global warming. I suppose she cannot see beyond her own back yard, and certainly chooses to be willfully ignorant regarding what is happening to the planet. I am older than you and remember studying about greenhouse gases in the early 70’s largely caused by carbon emissions of the industrial age.

Gaetzs get it right
Bills were introduced last week in the Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives, which would decriminalize the use of cannabidol (CBD), a non-euphoric ingredient found in some marijuana plants, for treatment of children suffering from violent seizures associated with severe epilepsy.

I know you are wondering – because I’m wondering – when do we spring forward. The answer is Sunday, March 9.

A Caring Community
In the course of life, sometimes families experience overwhelming circumstances out of their control, which can make it difficult to provide for all their family’s needs. It’s my hope and prayer that you moved through the end of the year with your family and loved ones and experience the joy of the season and did not go without nourishment.

One step closer to fee simple title on the beach
The U.S House of Representatives late last week approved a resolution, sponsored by Jeff Miller that requires Escambia County to convey Navarre Beach to Santa Rosa County, as well as provides an opportunity for both counties to offer fee simple titles to leaseholders on Santa Rosa Island. Now the issue must be considered by the Senate, and if approved there, then signed by the president.
