Hurricane Irma decided Navarre was not for her. She looked at us for a while, taunted us by moving west and west again and again and one last time before she made the turn to the alluring Florida Keys. We are a grateful community.
Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners and District 4 commissioner Rob Williamson has proposed a $6 million Navarre Park renovation – or reno as it is popularly called on DIY shows. Only this is no DIY.
The anticipation of Hurricane Irma is a difficult waiting game for businesses. Restaurants have to figure out if they need to order a little – or a lot, payroll companies want payroll amounts early so they can make sure checks get out in time, property managers start seeing the cancellations rolling in, car repair shops get rush orders on the cars already in their shops and the repairs that people have been putting off, are suddenly – very important. However, if you are a grocery store or a dollar store – things are more certain. Storm or not – people want water – and beer – apparently. I had a message Monday evening that our Navarre Walmart was wiped out of beer and water and it was a week before we may even see a rain shower due to Irma.
An August 15 headline reads, “People Need to Stop Hating.” Heather Heyer’s father also said “people need to learn to forgive.” Because he’s a believer in Jesus Christ, he forgave her killer.

My reading of Tamara Fountain’s impressive resume, presented in the Navarre Press Aug. 10, made me a happy camper. The article was well written by reporter Jamie Gentry, Navarre Press.
