The proposal to utilize the Navarre Marine Park as a concert venue is fantastic provided the county is the recipient of a fair and equitable return. All other commercial ventures on the beach return 5 percent of gross proceeds to the county.

We were very saddened to learn of the two airmen who died in a training accident and we hope to have more about their lives in the next issue of Navarre Press. We found out that Tech Sgt. Marty B. Bettelyoun lived in Holley By The Sea with his wife and five children.

You will notice a lot of pictures from Red, White and Blues Weekend in this issue. To be honest, I took more than 2,000 photos over two days and ended up with less than 20 decent photos. It is tough to take decent photos of the Blues. You never know which way they are coming from and at the last second, the sneak up behind you.
I’d like to point out that Mr. Rob Williamson is our duly-elected (by a wide margin I might add) county commissioner despite the Navarre Press’ and reporter Romi White’s diligent efforts to prevent that from happening last fall.
