Americans need to quit bellyaching
It’s 1 a.m., I can’t sleep. The recent women’s marches worldwide reminded this octogenarian of my participation in three major marches/rallies years ago.

Out and About
This is your last paper of January 2017 – can you believe it? I can’t. This month went by very fast. Before we know it, there will be graduations and summer will be upon us. Actually, if feels like summer stayed and I’m not complaining. I will not live north of I-10. I was born in south Florida and this is as north as I will live. Visits up north are fine. My fingers even go numb and turn colors when it is less than 40 degrees outside. Now you know my weakness.

Answers never easy
“Homeless in Paradise” ran in big letters on the front page a week ago as the Navarre Press took a deeper look at the suffering of those in our own county, and following the publication, we had one concerned citizen come into our office to look for deeper answers.

Five (Politically Incorrect) Facts About Past Presidential Inaugurations as seen on Townhall.com
Did you know that most facts about America’s early presidents aren’t in history books? Political correctness has taken its toll on some of our greatest heroes and portrayed them as evil men. New York Times bestselling author Larry Schweikart sets the record straight in his new book The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Presidents Part I. As America prepares to inaugurate its 45th president, here are five interesting facts about America’s past inaugurations that aren’t easily found in academia.

America should get out of U.N.
For years many have advocated for America to get out of the U.N. One good reason is America’s been footing most of the bill.

Democrats opposed Civil Rights Act
With Barack Obama’s historical 2008 presidential election he immediately went on an apology tour for America. His tour apologized for America as a whole regarding the atrocities committed as a nation. What Barack failed to mention during his tour was the leadership of America at the time of all these atrocities. Historically that leadership came from members of the Democrat Party. Andrew Jackson’s “Trail of Tears,” our Civil War with the succession of the Democrat controlled Southern States over the slavery issue, the left’s issue of dropping the atomic bomb on Japan, the 1960s Civil Rights movement again in the Democrat controlled Southern States, the assassination in Democrat controlled Memphis, Tennessee, of Martin Luther King over protesting the City’s Unionized Sanitation Department’s treatment of blacks, it is all there in history.

Out and About
We are feeling very parental at Navarre Press. We love seeing our “children” that we watched grow up go out into the world and do something good or great. I know there are more out there that we never hear about, but we keep our ears to the ground. We could use your ears too. And, all that to say – WOW! It was fun to watch Jordan Leggett on just about every play last night in Tampa during the Championship Game. Our sports guy would have kept up with every move he made except he was at a Raider soccer game. And, I have a lot of friends that are Alabama fans but I’m sure they would admit that it made losing a little bit bearable knowing that one of the Clemson players that made it happen was Navarre’s own Jordan Leggett. We are beaming with pride here at Navarre Press and we hope you are too.

Marketing for tourists
Hopefully you will agree that I attempt to stay positive on pretty much everything involving SRC (Santa Rosa County). Saying that, it seems that the obvious is in your faces yet no one sees it when it comes to “visitors.” Specifically, when it comes to tourism SRC (primarily Navarre Beach) is the destination zone for seniors. The seniors are not the 18 year olds trying to buy beer and chase girls but the 65+ year old Yankees looking for a warm spot in the sand.
